Outstanding sporting success for Team Sports
8 November 2016
A round up of success stories from our Sports Teams who have been out and about all over the country since September.
Led by Sports Co-ordinator Sarah Ralphs, there are 4 boys and 1 girls football teams, 2 hockey teams - 1 boys and 1 girls, 4 netball teams (no boys :)), 1 Rugby team comprising 50 students and 12 coaches - a feat of organisation on Wednesday afternoons.
Here's what's happened so far!
Netballs 1s team have qualified for the West Midlands Regional Tournament in January. Great news as we last qualified 4 years ago. Netball 2nd team only missed out being involved by 1 goal in their plate competion.
8 of our hockey boys went to the first round of Association of Colleges Trials (this will lead to representing the British Colleges team) in Wakefield yesterday and 6 of them were selected:
- Pete Bills Brown
- Jacob Caddick
- Andy Speke
- Charlie Eyke
- Ben Mitchell
- Hamish McKittrick
Our Rugby team are now top of the League AoC league 2 - yesterday beating Loughborough College 20-10 in a top of the table clash. This is the first year we’ve entered the league so it is a fantastic result. Coached by Norman Stalker (Ludlow RFC) & Bryan Smallman (Bridgnorth RFC).
Also fantastic news Alex Hearle has been selected by Worcester Warriors for the LV competition v Bristol on Friday. Alex is in the player pathway system for England and we are very proud to say he is our College Captain.
