An opportunity to celebrate

14 March 2016

'Who knew?' 'What a wealth of talent' 'How difficult to choose' were just some of the phrases used by those who attended our Celebrating Achievement event on Wednesday 2nd March.

A night not to be missed. More than awards evening; this annual celebration of the wide ranging gifts and talents of our students as well as their academic and scholastic achievements never fails to surprise and delight all those who attend.

With over 20 awards for academic achievement and enrichment involvement, the evening also gives the opportunity for staff, students and invited guests to witness the vast array of gifts, talents, skills and commitment shown by students throughout the curriculum and enrichment programme.

This year presentations ranged from solo piano performances to a folk trio; from Engineering Education Scheme presentations to a reciting of ’Strange Meeting’ by Wilfred Owen.

We were very pleased this year to welcome our guest presenters Cllr Miles Kenny, Mayor of Shrewsbury, Prof Anna Sutton, Provost University Centre Shrewsbury, Karen Bradshaw, Director Childrens Services, Shropshire Council, Caroline Thewles, Shrewsbury Bookfest trustee, Peter Bettis, Shrewsbury Business Chamber, Philip Adams, Headteacher Corbet School, Paul Harries from Baart Harries Newell - we thank them all for their time and committment to SSFC.
