Timely Anti-Semitism Talk
16 January 2015
Freddy Naftel at Shrewsbury Sixth Form College – part of the promotion of International Holocaust Memorial Day 27th January
Freddy Naftel's speech to Shrewsbury Sixth Form College’s students was a deeply moving and shocking account of the events that his Jewish family experienced as German citizens during the Holocaust, as well as his own experiences of Anti-Semitism as a child and adult in Britain. It was a thought provoking presentation that also helped students reflect on the recent terror events in Paris and issues surrounding freedom of speech, religious stereotyping and prejudice. As one teacher described it, it is an important lesson from the past and one for the present, which we should all engage with.
