What will I study?
In Film Studies we research and analyse movies - how they are financed, constructed and shown.
We analyse a range of films, both mainstream and arthouse, from various national, global and historical contexts.
Students will learn and apply specialist terminology and theories.
We analyse films from World cinema and early cinema as well as contemporary cinema.
Students have the opportunity to write a screenplay or shoot and edit a short film for coursework.
The course will reinforce analysis, research and communication skills as well as appreciation and understanding of visual texts and their audiences.
Where does it lead?
Higher/Continuing Education: Especially as a joint-degree with other subjects e.g. Media, English, History, Languages etc.
This course offers a strong foundation for Film and moving image production courses such as degrees in Film Production and more practical qualifications such as HNDs.
