Fashion and Textiles BTEC
Level 3 Extended Diploma in Fashion and Textiles.
A minimum of four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, preferably including English Language and an Art subject, or Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design, at Merit, and a portfolio of art and design work.
What will I study?
This course will provide you with knowledge and understanding of the different employment areas in Fashion such as Design, Illustration, Marketing, Merchandising, Buying, Pattern Cutting, Garment Construction and Textiles. You will develop practical skills to enable you to create your ideas and realise them as high quality outfits that will form your collection at the annual Fashion Show. You will learn about the fashion industry and develop practical skills in fashion design, drawing, pattern cutting, garment construction, fashion photography and computer aided design. You will also have visits to appropriate galleries and fashion shows.
Where does it lead?
You can progress to the HNC/ HND Fashion course at other Higher Education institutions or universities such as London College of Fashion, Manchester Met, Liverpool and Brighton. You can study Fashion Buying, Fashion Marketing, Fashion Design, Fashion and Textiles and Fashion Technology. Some students go directly into employment in the fashion industry. You could become an Image Consultant or Visual Merchandiser, Fashion Buyer, or develop your creativity as a Fashion Designer.
